I believe that change created in the entire family system can help improve the individual lives of each family member. During family therapy sessions, we have the opportunity to explore how each family member impacts the other, improve communication, provide support to one another, and have a safe place to discuss issues.
My goal in working with families is to allow each family member to feel heard and understood. During these sessions, I focus on strengthening the relationship among family members. When family members are able to openly express their thoughts and feelings, the frequency and intensity of their symptoms decrease.
An essential part of child psychotherapy is the work that is done with families. I provide useful tools and accurate information that help parents manage their child’s behaviors in positive and encouraging ways. This way, parents feel empowered to support their children and transfer what they have practiced in sessions to all aspects of their lives.
